WHY CELEBRATE?
Copyright © 2002 by MessianicArt.com. Often we are asked, “Why do you
celebrate the feast?” If you are
wondering the same thing you might be surprised to know we have a question
for you, “Why aren’t you celebrating the feasts?” We ask that not because we feel
it is required, nor because we think it is right or wrong…we simply ask that
as they are such a JOY to us and we wonder why isn’t every Christian enjoying
these God given celebrations. We
treasure these celebrations that draw us close as a family into the One who
means more to us than anyone or anything… Years ago, the Lord stirred a desire in our hearts to learn more about
these Feast so often mentioned in the Bible, and yes even in the New
Testament. That first year we started
with Sukkoth, little realizing the tremendous joy and blessings that God
would pour out onto us as a family simple wishing to have fun and honor Him
in all our actions. The benefits have
been never ending. Blessed be the
Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our Salvation. Selah
Psalm 68: 19 As the desire to live every
moment of our life for the Lord had grown to new measure, many changes in our
lives have taken place, subtle ones that the Holy Spirit has just brought
about without our realization. I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will
remember thy wonders of old.
Psalm 77: 11 We are forgetful people and
for us the feasts are great
reminders, reminders of what He has done, is doing, and is going to
do. By celebrating the feast each
year we have a visual aid of His word from Genesis 1: 1 to Revelation 22: 21. Abba you knew we were forgetful people, thank you
for this wonderful, blessed, joyful, and fun way to remember, learn and grow
in You! We do have fun with some non-biblical holidays, but as my daughter has
repeated year after year...I like the holidays God made much better than
those of man, that is the world’s holidays. God’s holidays have so much more
purpose and meaning and they are so much more fun! God is more fun than the
world, from the mouth of a child! I use to be concerned that the worldly
holidays would have more of an attraction to Roxanne and wondered if we
should separate from them. Yes there are some we don’t celebrate, but it has
been a separation that has subtly come about. What a witness for God Roxanne’s statement is…His parties are
more fun than the worlds! We have a God who not only likes to have a good time, but knows
better than us how to celebrate! Abba
it is our joy to honor You!!
* A note here before you read any further… As with all the celebrations we believe it is the heart that matters
to God. How I
pray as you read through these pages and about these Holydays that are so
precious to us (and to the Lord) that we are not bound by them – they are a
joy. |
